Walked the dogs a long way this afternoon, around Ferniclose Road. That takes us right out of the village and into the fields. We saw this blossom. Don't ask me to name it....not my skill!! LOL
It's "May Blossom". The flower of the Hawthorn. Kent is awash with it at the moment.
Usually found in hedgerows, this stubborn bush-like tree will grow in the most adverse circumstances, including in no-mans land during the 1st World War; where it allegedly gave rise to a few scares, as the blossom apparently smells remeniscentof a type of gas used on troops at the time.
I love vegetable gardening. This new blog will track my attempts to make my whole garden productive; both the kitchen garden and the ornamental areas front and back.

Thanks....I'd forgotten which one it was. I like to make jelly with the haws later in the year!
