This morning I have reached a milestone on my plot. I planted out the remaining plants destined for this part of my veg empire! There is lots still to do in the tidying up the plot area of my endeavours, but the crops planned for this year are now in.

The top photo shows the two pumpkins, and 4 globe artichokes planted this morning. I had 4 g artichokes left which I put on the surplus seat for anyone else who wants them.

I think the little rhubarb plants, marked by the sticks, have died. They came from an e-bay purchase. I thought they were rather small when they arrived. They did start to make leaves but these have disappeared. The rhubarb from the lump of root which I obtained from the surplus seat is doing very well...thank goodness.

This photo shows the cabbages planted and netted (forgot the collars so I'll have to remember to do them...!) and the squashes, of all sorts of varieties. A couple more are out of shot (Turk's Turban). These here are Pink Banana, Custard White,Veg Spaghetti, Butternut, and Blue something (forgotten). I'm hoping for a big haul from these as they store well for the winter.

This picture demonstrates the shade problem on my plot. I took it at 11.45 am today. I think I still get the 6 hours of full sunshine a day in the summer which is required for plant health, but it would have been better if it was sunnier.

The Desiree potatoes are flowering...these are maincrop. The other potatoes, First Earlies and Second Earlies are not! Is this strange or to be expected?

Empress Lilymarlene...has a certain ring to it! My big problem with veg growing is lack of sunshine..not one area gets 6 hours in the Summer (no areas get it in the winter) doesn't stop me trying though!
