Glastonbury Abbey is just ruins now, but very majestic. The kitchen though is separate from the actual abbey buildings and is complete. It is restored so that it can be used in demonstrations of medieval cooking. I am always fascinated by the way people lived in times past, social history interests me much more than politics or wars! So visiting restored places is always more satisfying than ruins.
