Didn't go to the plot today as it was rainy most of the time when I could have gone, but I did get the guttering for the back roof of the polytunnel....and if it isn't too windy tomorrow I'll put it up.

I also got some sunflower seeds for the garden.....I'm really looking forward to seeing their cheerful faces later this year. I don't think there is any point trying them on the plot as the wind would probably knock them over.

We had to go for a hospital appt this morning for hubby's hip. He is now on the waiting list for his second hip replacement.....probably September or October. He has a massive ear op scheduled for April 24th as well....so not a good year for him.

Tomorrow promises to be sunny....so here's hoping.....!

A lovely blog - you certainly work hard at it. I've had problems with getting pics in the right place as well. I sometimes split my entries into several separate entries to keep the photos with the correct bit of text.

I will revisit.

Thanks for your kind comments.
I had noticed some people post lots of entries on the same day and now see why!!!!!
I've found your blog and posted. We used to have 8 cats at one time and are now down to three. The youngest has Feline Aids so we were advised not to have any new arrivals until he dies. He is now 7 so we have a long wait.....hence the Whippets.

Thanks for you comments - luckily the cats seem to ignore the indoor pots - they have a tendency to lay on plants outdoors, so I protect little ones - the bigger ones 'bounce' back.

hope your husband stays well through all his operations. I love cats, I would love a dog too but feel I am out too much.

Thanks for your good wishes. He has had one new hip which is wonderful now....so he is really looking forward to the improvement in the other now. As for the ear....we have had years of problems and operations with that. hopefully this one will finish all the problems, and not wipe out too much of his remaining hearing.

And yes....dogs are quite a tie. DH wont put them in Kennels so we are fairly restricted for gallivanting. But that means I am here for my watering duties in the greenhouse etc. I couldn't have taken on the allotment as well if we were great holiday takers.
We have two cages for them when we go out without them. If I put a skirt on they go in unasked! They seem to work out when we are going out. We never leave them in the cages for more than four hours....but don't worry too much about them being in them because they often choose to sleep in them for hours when we are at home anyway.

Hi Lily,
I notice you live in IOW, I've been wanting to visit the island for years, just to attend the Garlic Festival, but never made it yet!
I too had 7 cats this time last year, 2 were strays and went to the local Cats' Protection adoption centre and they were adopted shortly afterwards. Then my beloved Sid had to be put to sleep in July, with back problems, he was in such pain.I'd raised him from a very skinny 3week old rejected by his mother, he only ever knew love and was so affectionate.
I now have only 4 cats, Harry,Katie,Tessie and Rosie. A neighbours' cat also visits!
I have seen the 'babies' quilt picture, don't remember seing before.
Well, love the blog!
How about a pic of the Whippets?
My sister has a greyhound, although a rescue dog, he was only 4 months old when she had him, he's so laid back! he's a big softy.
About getting the pics where you want them, I got fed up of each pic being put at the top of my blog entry, that I used the 'drag' method with the cursorto put them with the relevant text, don't know if there is a simpler way, but it works for me!

I posted one of the Whippets on 16th March....!
We went to the garlic festival last year....it was sooooo noisy the dogs got scared (whippets show they are unhappy with their ears laid back and their tales between their legs!) that we came away very quickly. Won't bother again!
The Island is very definitely worth a visit though. We came on holiday here, to Seaview< ever since the 1950's when I was a child. I always wanted to live here and now I have my dream....a house and an allotment here!
My poor Felix (the cat with Aids) had to go to the vets today with a burst mouth ulcer. He is now booked in for a major mouth overhaul on Wednesday!
