Not sure of your climate, but over here (Netherlands) the foliage dies back before it starts to freeze. Anyhow they're supposed to be ready when the stem gets corky. My pumpkins kept the entire winter after harvesting them in that stage.

Good luck, good gardening.

Jandrajandrahttp://plot101.wordpress.com/category/english/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23745619.post-48935750512867285592008-08-13T07:35:00.000Z2008-08-13T07:35:00.000ZWow - what a fantastic harvest you are doing brill...Wow - what a fantastic harvest you are doing brilliantly - have fun with your visitors as I am sure you willLottiehttp://www.kooringa.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23745619.post-12469296574319312872008-08-12T17:56:00.000Z2008-08-12T17:56:00.000ZWhat a great haul you have there! I went on holiday giving my lotty friends who kindly watered my plot whilst I was away instructions to take what they wanted. Unfortunatly they did not take one and on our return we found that over half of them had bolted. Still my friends chickens enjoyed them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23745619.post-31294739260747547852008-08-08T08:57:00.000Z2008-08-08T08:57:00.000ZWow!
